Applications for the 2025 orchestra are open to string players only (violin, viola, cello, and double bass). Woodwind, brass and percussion players will be invited to audition later.
There are two ways to audition to join Peak Sinfonia of Hong Kong.
Option 1: Submit a video recording by adding a youtube link to the application form below.
Option 2: We are holding auditions in some schools, please ask your music teacher if we are visiting.

The deadline for applications is December 1st 2024
Students are invited to apply provided they meet the following criteria:
- Aged 12 – 18
- Minimum Grade 8 standard
- Able to rehearse in English
Video audition
- Please prepare two pieces that contrast in style and tempo.
- In total, your performance should last no more than 10 minutes.
- Recordings may be unaccompanied or accompanied.
- At the start of the video recording, please introduce yourself and tell us which pieces you are playing. This is an opportunity for the panel to learn about you. For example, you may wish to tell us how long you have been playing, your favourite repertoire and any other extracurricular activities you enjoy.
- Please record your performance in a single take without editing. The spoken introduction can be recorded separately
- Please name the file with your full name and instrument.
- The recording should not exceed 4GB. Acceptable file formats include MP4, MPEG and MPG. You can upload links to YouTube, Vimeo or a cloud platform.
Tips for preparing a good recording:
- Consider rehearsing by recording yourself and evaluating your performance before creating your final video.
- Choose a well-lit setting and stabilise your camera on a steady surface to ensure clear and professional footage.
- Ensure that your actions are clearly visible to the reviewers.
- While there are no strict attire requirements, aim for a polished appearance that conveys professionalism.
- Thoroughly assess the recording quality before submission to ensure it meets the desired standards.
Candidates will be notified by the end of term if they have been awarded a place in the Peak Sinfonia of Hong Kong.
